I took my travel laptop in to The Smart Techs for the repair of a pesky Dell DC power jack. The tech, promptly quoted me a flat fee for the work and explained a lower alternative flat fee in the event I didn't want a diagnostic run. I picked it up the next business day, no fuss no muss. It was one of the smoothest IT related transactions I have ever had. I started a solo law practice last year and prior to that I had years of interaction with IT firms over the years. I can't say that in all those years I enjoyed any of my interactions with the tech firm we were using. Most such conversations were replete with situations where you felt like they were insulting your intelligence: "Yes it's plugged in. Yes I turned it off and back on." So it was a bit of a leap of faith to call The Smart Techs because I found them through a random Google search. I extremely pleased with the professionalism and level-headed approach. There was none of the head-crinkling and sighing you get from other techs who behave like auto mechanics about to break the bad news. The tech simply stated what needed to be done and quoted a price. All in all, I will definitely use his company again in the unfortunate event that I experience further computer hardware or software related problems. powerjack Repair rockville md

Excellent Help!

I often access my work computer from home and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as there's too much to do to let it go. Last week, just before the holiday weekend, my home computer froze up and wouldn't let me connect to my work computer, so I had a nice weekend and forced leisure time since I couldn't access my work computer! I sent an e-mail today to Smart Techs. They called me immediately and arranged to come to my home this afternoon. Ever Lopez was my technician. He called to say he was on his way, he arrived in just a few minutes and went right to work to find the problem. Within an hour he had my computer up and running again. He explained everything that he was doing, advised me on what I should be doing to avoid further problems, recommended I have it checked again in another year or so. He was terrific, the cost was reasonable, the problem is solved! Great Experience

My daughter's PC got taken over by a trojan and other sundry "aliens" (I'm sure from downloading stuff from MySpace or the like) and all my basic repair skills weren't up to the task of fixing it. We had previously had a computer tech with software writing skills do this type of work, but he had moved out of our area since the last time we needed service. I checked out Yellowpages.com and looked at local computer repair vendors. Of all those vendors listed, Smart Techs had the most reviews and those reviews appeared legitimate and positive. Our Smart Tech technician (Ever L.) clearly described the fees involved during my first call and he came out to the house per my schedule (next morning). He promptly (10 minutes) diagnosed the problem (serious infection) and gave me an estimate (labor and parts/software) and took the infected PC with him. He came back the next morning and hooked up the PC, repaired a faulty Internet cable head, installed the new antivirus software I bought and reconfigured our small (2 PC) LAN for shared printer, etc. The price was a little higher than I had been paying my previous tech (but the previous tech was moonlighting and didn't always show up or complete repairs when he said he would). My experience with Smart Techs (Ever L. in particular) was excellent and I feel good knowing that we have a solid tech to call on should we need him again. :Computer Repair

Smart Techs rescued my computer: when I got the blue screen that said "unmountable boot drive", I called Smart Techs. Ever replaced the hard drive and reloaded the operating system and software for a reasonable charge (and vacuumed inside the computer and another computer in the house that had a noisy fan). He also took the old hard drive and extracted data. The charge for data extraction, at $249, might have been a bit on the high side (though probably similar to the prices everyone else charges for data extraction). I got my money's worth, though, because he didn't charge for installing the old hard drive in an enclosure and a third home visit. Now I have full access to all my old e-mails, cookies, favorites, and program files (as well as documents). Thanks Smart Techs! :Data Recovery

I selected Smart Techs based on phone interviews of three firms in the area. Smart Techs was the best price and most responsive. It turned out that the work was superb. Their tech was extremely competent, knowledeable, efficient, worked on the spot and at the bench. He showed up at the promised hour, has been available on the phone, friendly, very professional. He helped us search for lost files and on a follow up call, helped me clear a nasty virus (Bronkton) from six computers. We recommend Smarth Techs unconditionally. :Computer Repair

Woke up to a dead PC on Monday. Called Smart Techs, and they picked it up from my house by noon. The next day, I got a call diagnosing the problem, which they promptly fixed. I could have picked it up that day, but preferred to wait until the following day when they were able to redeliver it to my home. The technician, Ever, also attached it to all cables and waited while it booted up properly. The whole thing cost $99. I would definitely recommend this to others for price, convenience, and their professionalism.

 

Great communication, very personable, and fast service. I had two PCs fixed at SmartTechs before Christmas. Time was of the essence, and when there was a slight change in the time that my PC was going to be ready, Ever and Alexander kept me in the loop by calling immediately. HP tried to sell me a new laptop instead of fixing it, G**k Squad estimated the price to be much higher than SmartTechs. When G**k Squad fixed my computer in 2009, they didn't have it ready when they said they would and had no apologies about having me wait for hours on a school night with my preschooler. I highly recommend SmartTechs. If needed, they also speak Spanish!
